Letter to my athletes

Welcome to Mental Game Athlete. It is my honor to be your mental game coach. As an athlete you will thrive, trust, and transform from the inside out. You will take the pain you are in now (inconsistent game day results, frustrations with a coach, lack of belief, low game day confidence, inability to recover from mistakes, negative self-talk, or perfectionism) and learn from it. You will create tools to use that allow you the freedom to play and compete with fun, fight, flow, and focus.

I am here to help you improve your mental game and thus, elevate your performance on game day when it matters most. You have things you want to achieve in your sport, and I am here to help. It is normal to have hard times as we strive to improve. In fact, struggle and failure are key components to our athletic journey. It is how we learn to respond to these beasts that distinguishes us from our peers.

Just as you ask your parents or coach to help you improve your physical skills, I am here to help you do some things a little different and better (think quality not quantity) before you ever step into your competitive arena. We investigate the mind to find out which thoughts are helping you perform freely, and which thoughts are getting you stuck. Again, this is normal. Every athlete at every level goes through this. Progress is never linear. The concept of development is not a straight line from one clear stage to the next. It is messy. The tools you will learn at Mental Game Athlete help you navigate the messiness.

We come together to form a team based on our strengths. It is smart for you and your family to reach out and ask for assistance. I am honored to join your team. I am super stoked to get started. My life experiences have taught me that the most successful athletes are the ones who want to be coached–want to be their best–want to learn.

Everyone from the basic levels to the highest levels you train and compete with will say, ‘I am competitive.” But how many are willing to put the work in consistently and privately–when no one is looking or posting on social media–to create the process and live the system that leads to the results all of us seek? As soon as you sign up with Mental Game Athlete you are on the right path to becoming an even more bodacious player, competitor, and teammate!

I am NOT a therapist or psychologist with a license to diagnosis or treat pathologies or dysfunctions. I am a certified mental game performance coach with over 25 years experience combining my love for competition, teamwork, and personal/leadership development. I combine the inner game (purpose, process, belief, confidence, concentration/focus, connection, and attitude) with the external game (physical skill execution) to elevate the athlete’s overall performance. I help educate young athletes to identify strengths and challenges and then learn tools to help refine/create new habits to be the best they can be at whatever they put their mind to.

In short, I strive to help you make the invisible, visible…in the most consistent, sustainable, and powerful way.
